Our Programs
The Rebuild Women's Hope Foundation’s work in South Kivu in the Democratic Republic of Congo focuses on three pillars which each have their own areas of intervention and methodology.
Economic Development
We focus on the economic development of women to promote financial empowerment and enhance family income generation. This initiative includes providing training and technical support to women farmers in the sustainable cultivation of agricultural crops such as coffee, cassava, and pineapple, emphasizing the protection of the environment and the proper management of natural resources. Additionally, it offers adult literacy training, business skills development, and vocational training in fields like hairdressing, sewing, and soap-making at Women’s centers established by RWH. The pillar also supports the initiation and maintenance of Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) to facilitate the startup and expansion of income-generating activities, further empowering women economically.
Health Care
We are dedicated to improving health care services and promoting healthy living conditions. This pillar encompasses the provision of specialized maternal and pediatric health care to enhance health outcomes for mothers and infants. It includes the rehabilitation of essential health care infrastructure as necessary, ensuring facilities are equipped to meet community needs. Additionally, psychological support is provided for women who are victims of armed conflicts, addressing mental health concerns stemming from such traumatic experiences. The pillar also focuses on improving hygiene and establishing a safe drinking water supply, critical components for fostering healthier communities.
Women's Rights
We promote women’s rights, specifically aiming to restore the rights of female victims of gender-based violence (GBV) and facilitate their reintegration into the community. This effort includes providing support to these women to report acts of violence to legal authorities, along with offering necessary legal support to navigate the judicial process. Additionally, the provision of psychosocial support helps victims cope with the emotional and psychological impacts of their experiences. The pillar also focuses on sensitizing communities towards peaceful cohabitation, educating and encouraging an environment of mutual respect and understanding.
